We are proud of the materials and workmanship that goes into each Klean Kanteen, and we stand behind all of our products and accessories. But we also know that on occasion, things go awry.

Klean Kanteen® Warranty

Klean Kanteens and accessories produced by Klean Kanteen such as caps, slings, and bike cages, come with a one-year warranty against manufacturer defects. Normal wear and tear, including scratches and dents, are not covered under the Klean Kanteen warranty.

Accessories by other manufacturers, such as BuiltNY®, are covered by the warranty of the original manufacturer. They only qualify for warranty return through Klean Kanteen if purchased from www.kleankanteen.com.

Kanteen® Warranty Return/Replacement

If you purchased your Kanteen (or accessory) from a retailer, it is often easier to return it to the retailer, avoiding shipping charges/impact and the hassle of being without your Kanteen. If you bought your Kanteen (or accessory) directly from us, we'll replace the product for you or issue you a merchandise credit.

If you are experiencing some of the following problems with your Kanteen, you may have a bottle with a manufacturer defect:

pinhole leaks
Kanteens are welded by hand, and on rare occasions and tiny hole at the weld will cause a small leak. This manufacturer defect is covered by the warranty.
received damaged
If your Klean Kanteen arrives with dents, scratches or other flaws it will be replaced. Please inspect packaging to determine if it was damaged in transit.
rough welds
All welds and surfaces on a klean kanteen are smoothed and polished, if your kanteen has a rough weld, this is a defect.
peeling or flaking paint
Paint can be chipped off by the normal wear and tear of abrasion and impacts. This type of paint chipping is not a defect and is not covered by the warranty (it is the nature of all paint). If the paint is easily flaking off, usually in an area larger than a quarter, this would constitute a defect and is covered by the warranty. If you are unsure, contact warranty@kleankanteen.com
a deformed bottom
Usually a deformed or bulged bottom is a sign that the bottle has been frozen, or in rare cases, overheated/overpressured on a stove or with hot liquid. Klean Kanteens are not designed to be frozen or heated, and both actions void the Klean Kanteen warranty.

If you're not sure if the problem you're experiencing is a manufacturer defect or not, read our FAQs page to make sure you're caring for and cleaning your bottle correctly. If that doesn't answer your questions, or you still think you have a manufacturer defect, give us a call and we'll help you figure it out.

Warranty claims require a Web Order Number, a 6 or 7 digit number which can be found on the original invoice or on the email received when placing the original order. Bold fields are required.
