Breast Cancer FundIn the United States, a woman’s lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is an alarming one in eight; and according to the Breast Cancer Fund (BCF), no more than one in ten women with breast cancer has a genetic history of the disease. Scientific studies point to toxic chemicals and radiation in our environment as significant factors causing breast cancer.
In response to this public health crisis, the Breast Cancer Fund identifies environmental toxins and other preventable causes of cancer and advocates for eliminating them. Founded in 1992, the Breast Cancer Fund is the leading national organization focused on breast cancer prevention and stopping cancer before it starts.
Klean Kanteen™ was founded in response to the negative health and environmental impacts caused by the pervasive use of plastic in our society and food chain. We chose high quality, 18/8, food-grade stainless steel for our bottles because it’s inherently healthy, safe and free of BPA and other toxins.
Klean Kanteen™ is committed to supporting organizations such as the Breast Cancer Fund that work to identify and eliminate toxins from our lives.
Every year a team assembled from all over the country embarks on a daring mountain expedition, climbing to the top of one of the tallest peaks in the world for breast cancer prevention. In June, 29 inspiring women and men summited California’s 14,162-foot Mt. Shasta during the Breast Cancer Fund’s 2009 Climb Against the Odds.
In conjunction with the 2009 Climb Against the Odds, we donated a portion of sales from pink bottles sold in May and June to the Breast Cancer Fund in support of their work to eliminate environmental and other preventable causes of breast cancer.
In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, we again donated $4 from the sale of all sizes of pink, Classic bottles during the month of October to the Breast Cancer Fund.
Many of us at Klean Kanteen™ have been touched by the challenge and tragedy of cancer. Supporting the Breast Cancer Fund is one of many efforts we make to work toward a healthy, sustainable future for people and the planet.
