The toxins in our environment are much more dangerous for babies and children than for adults. Because they're still growing, kids are at the greatest risk of developing diseases and illnesses caused by exposure to toxins such as bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, lead and other chemicals.

At Klean Kanteen® we created the first stainless steel bottle designed for personal use because we were worried by early studies linking plastic use to a long list of illnesses. We wanted to give consumers a safe, healthy alternative.

We're excited to announce our partnership with Healthy Child Healthy World, an organization committed to protecting our nation's children. Many household products, including thousands of products for babies and toddlers, are made with types of plastic that have been shown to leach BPA into food and drinks. Numerous scientific studies indicate that BPA has the potential to act as an endocrine-disrupter when ingested, and that children are the most susceptible. BPA exposure has been linked to dysfunction in the brain, behavior, and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children at current human exposure levels.

Because babies and toddlers are even more vulnerable to environmental toxins than adults, we created the Kid Kanteen® Sippy almost immediately after we released the first Klean Kanteen® bottles for grown-ups. The Kid Kanteen® Sippy bottle is 18/8, food-grade stainless steel, which is inert, safe and contains no harmful toxins or chemicals. The sippy caps are made of non-leaching, BPA-free polypropylene (pp#5).
