Event Spotlight: FloydFest

FloydFest Works with Klean for a Greener Experience

Founded on a small farm in Virginia, FloydFest is creating a whole new experience with the help of Klean Kanteen. Situated on the pristine and non-commercial Blue Ridge Parkway, FloydFest continues to value environmental sustainability. It is the crowning jewel of the charmingly artsy one-stoplight mountain town of Floyd, Virginia. Featuring over one hundred bands showcased on nine uniquely different performance stages. Food and beverage offerings include organic vegetarian, local coffee, and Virginia wines and craft beer. Plus, over 100 regional artisans displaying handcrafted moccasins, instruments, clothes, jewelry and fine art. Klean Kanteen looks forward to helping other festivals follow the FloydFest lead in reducing single-use plastic and waste.

"We’re really pleased to be working with Klean Kanteen,” says festival organizer Erika Johnson. “They offer a superior sustainable product, and are at the forefront of sustainable practices. We hope our partnership efforts will encourage other events and festivals to follow suit."

The Green Team

FloydFest has a group of "Green Team" volunteer teens that help out all weekend, sorting trash and compostables, and educating festival-goers about recycling, re-usables, and waste reduction tips.

Doing Well

During our first year as a sponsor, Klean helped hire a local expert to dig a commercial well on the festival grounds, so FloydFest could provide free water refill stations in future years. We value long term partnerships.

Educational Fun

We've also had our share of fun at FloydFest, playing "water pong" for prizes and discounts, while educating booth visitors about water quality and environmental toxins. Education and awareness is very important to us.
