Meh.
I purchased 2 of the insulated food canisters, one for me (an environmental scientist) and one for my boyfriend who is a field archaeologist. We both have limited options for having warm food at work. The canisters keep food warm for a couple hours but not long enough to keep for lunch. Though, we have not yet put liquid in them, we have been using them for pasta and vegetables and they may work better for liquids. I was also disappointed that the inside of the lid is plastic, not stainless. The size is a good size portion, I was between the 8 oz and the 16 oz and I am glad I went with the 16. Overall, we will use the canisters anyway, but are a little bummed that they don't keep our food as warm as we expected.

Insulated Lid with Plastic Interior Protector?
The reason I'm rating you a 3 star for this product is, that I don't like the new insulated lid for the 16 oz food canisters, (even though I've purchased 3 0f them at Whole Foods in Chicago's Lincoln Park area recently, due to a lack of option) due to the new black round plastic part "protector" that takes most of the interior of the lid, leaving less space to level the food up. Besides that I don't understand why You make a 18/8 food graded container with some plastic inside the lid which is touching my food, even if it is BPA free.

Leaks with hot liquid or sauce. Can't believe it has plastic lid
I have been a big fan of Klean Kanteem with the bottles and even a tumbler, I wanted a food container with a wide mouth to hold food and even soup. Ordered a Klean Kanteen insulated 16oz, surprised it has a plastic lid, then found out the sauce from my food leaked in my bag. Same happened when I put hot soup. Container didn't keep ice cream cold after 4 hour in 75 ambient. glad REI has great return policy.

Insulated Food Canister
Received the insulated food canister as a gift but was so disapponted that the inner lid is made of plastic. Though it is BPA free but plastic leeches other chemicals when in contact with food, especially hot food. The plastic defeats the purpose of having a food grade stainless steel insulator. A disappointed product by Klean Kanteen. Not recommended.

Not thrilled
I don't use anything except klean kanteen for my coffee - those are FABULOUS so I ordered the insulated food canister and couldn't wait to get it, knowing I could take a nice hot soup or other warm items for lunch now that the weather is turning cooler - I was so wrong. VERY disappointed. My soup is barely luke warm by lunch time.

Very disappointed
My son used his canister for the first time yesterday. It leaked all over his lunch bag!!!! I thought it must of been his fault, he's a teenager but after going my own experiment- it truly did leak.... I couldn't believe it. The kid doesn't even close correctly. I would like a refund!!!!

Plastic and Stainless Steel Interior ???
The plastic on the interior side of the cap is definitely a BIG disappointment and the prime reason for a reduced approval rating. The plastic defeats the benefits of the food grade stainless steel. I had bought Klean Kanteen's smaller sized insulated canister a year ago; the interior of the lid is protected in metal. So that is the lid I use for either canister. I do like the 16-ounce canister very much for my mid-morning meal while away from home. Partially fill the canister with various healthy grains and vegetables and seeds, plus healthy oils and seasonings, plus boiling hot water; tightly sealed with the metal lined lid - and several hours later, I reopen the insulated canister to find perfectly slow-cooked and flavorful food that is plenty warm, and no while the food is absorbing the water. The canister itself works beautifully to keep foods hot and the larger size makes it easier to eat straight from the canister without a mess when you stir the contents.

insulated food container
I have 2 insulated drink container which I love! Unfortunately, the insulated food container has not kept my soup hot for the second day in a row. I made sure that I heated the soup extra hot too. Sad that it doesn't work any better than a Thermos for 3x the price. Sadness.
