An expensive, but must have cap

"You might look at the price and think do I really need that? If you have new cup drinker or a forgetful toddler, this is a must have so your kids can start Klean Kanteen from a young age. I utilize these sippy caps as young as 6 months old for the 5 kids I’ve had since discovering Klean Kanteen and use to approximately 2yrs when they upgrade to the 27oz cup with the sports cap. The stopper does wear over time and begin to leak, but expected. To preserve the life of it I recommend never putting it in the dish washer as this has seemed to be the fastest way to need a replacement. If possible, avoid the brushes within the cylindrical part of the stopper unless needed, I find I can just press the sides together and gently rub to achieve clean without the additional wear on the cut in the stopper. I always advise utilizing the parts section and buying additional stoppers for the cap. If your child is at the stage of playing in water, they will happily shake a cup with this spout both right side up and upside down to get water out of it that way, it’s mostly leak proof but nothing is ever truly child proof."

Good cap but …

"I’m torn because it’s good in terms of creating a good seal and slowing leaks. However, the plastic seal on the inside to slow down leaks also means the kid is working hard just to get some water through the cap. If I remove that plastic seal, then it is pretty much just an open bottle 😂"

I want to buy this for my 7 yr old son for school. But I’m afraid the dust cap will get lost or broken. Are dust caps replaceable? Maybe the twist cap would be a better option? Wondering if this: Hey Anne. Yes, we offer replacement dust covers if lost. The Twist cap is also a great leakproof option for kids who like a straw, so it is really up to your preference. But both should work for your son!

What is the spout made of? Is it hard or soft?: Hi there, All of our caps except the bamboo/steel loop caps are made from Polypropylene #5. The Sippy Cap spout will be hard.
