Order Questions

What methods of payment are accepted?

We accept credit cards for Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. We also accept online express payment types ShopPay, AmazonPay, PayPal, GooglePay, ApplePay and MetaPay, among others. Debit cards backed by a credit company listed above are also accepted. As part of our ShopPay, we also allow installment payment plans.

Why isn’t my coupon code working?

One coupon code, reward code or promotional code can be used per order. These discount codes will apply to full-priced items only. Verify that the coupon code is entered exactly as shown without spaces. Additionally, verify the date you are using the code falls within the applicable date range and that you have not already used the code. If these have been confirmed and the problem persists, please reach out to our customer service team at 1-800-767-3173 or

Can I cancel or change my order?

We try to process and ship orders as quickly as possible. Once an order has been placed, we are unable to make any modifications that change the cost of an order. If you would like to make a change (like switching a color), please contact us via phone at 1-800-767-3173 or email as soon as possible. Once an order has been shipped, we are unable to cancel or modify an order.

When will my order ship?

We ship from Northern California Monday through Friday during our regular business hours. Orders usually ship within 2-3 business days, but sometimes take longer during peak periods. Orders placed with expedited air shipping are usually processed within 24 hours. Please allow for this time in addition to your estimated shipping time. For more information visit our shipping page

How do I return or exchange an item?

If you purchased a product from within 30 days and wish to return or exchange it, please see our Return and Exchanges page to review our policy and initiate this process. In order to be eligible for return, products must be in an unused condition with their original packaging intact.

I received an incorrect or damaged item with my order, what do I do?

If you received an order from and it contained a damaged or incorrect item please reach out to our Customer Service team as soon as possible via our online inquiry form, or phone 1-800-767-3173. If you ordered from one of our retailers, please contact that specific retailer directly.

How do I find out about special deals, discounts and promotions?

How do I change my password?

If you're signed into your account, go to the My Account page. Once on your profile page, you can select “reset password” to change your current password.

Forgotten password?

Click “Forgot your password?” on the account sign in page and a password reset link will be sent to the email associated with your account. If this email does not arrive, we may have a different email on file or an account has not yet been set up. Please be sure to check your spam/junk folders as well. Do you offer replacement parts?

What is 18/8 stainless steel?


Klean Kanteen products are constructed from high-quality, 18/8, food-grade stainless steel, meaning 18% chromium and 8% nickel. They make stainless steel strong and highly resistant to stain or rust. Because stainless steel is easy to clean, durable, inert, and sanitary, it is the material of choice in the food and beverage industry.


What about recycled steel?


At Klean Kanteen we value the safety of our products, and we can assure you they are tested and certified. Our 90% post-consumer 18/8 stainless steel meets the same stringent food content regulatory requirements as the previously used steel in all of our products. We are certified by Intertek, a third party recycled content verification entity. You can learn more about their services here:


Where are Klean Kanteens made?


Klean Kanteen products are designed in Chico, California and responsibly made in China. Currently, there aren’t qualified stainless steel water bottle manufacturers in the US – most brands are made in either China or India. We are proud to have a long relationship with these facilities and their staff and consider them part of our Klean Kanteen family.


What testing do you do?

Do Klean Kanteens have BPA, lead, phthalates or heavy metals?

No way! Klean Kanteen is rooted in health and wellness and has been from the beginning.  Our products are designed to be a reusable solution to single-use plastic. All Klean products are free of these elements and meet strict standards for compliance all over the globe. All Klean Kanteen products are lead-free. Instead of using lead-based products, Klean Kanteen opts to use silica/glass plugs to create its vacuum-insulated vessels—a material that is six to seven times more expensive than the lead-based alternatives but aligns more closely with our values to protect people and the planet.

Do Klean Kanteens have an interior lining?

No, because all Klean Kanteen products are made from high quality, food-grade stainless steel. Since stainless steel is often used for food and beverage contact, no plastic or epoxy linings are necessary, and they are naturally free of BPA, lead and other harmful substances.

What is Klean Coat?

Our Klean Coat® finish (on our products with colors and prints) is a clean powder coat that is 4X more durable than our previous paint finish. We used GreenScreen® to score ingredients by their level of safety and ingredients that did not meet our standards for contact with people and the environment were eliminated.

How do I clean my Sport Cap?

Our latest Sport Cap has a removable spout, for thorough cleaning and washing. See diagram below. Pinch the mouth piece and firmly pull straight out to remove spout. Also visit our Care and Use page for videos and more info.

Are Klean Kanteen products dishwasher safe?

Yes, all of our current Klean Kanteen products are dishwasher-safe (except for the Bamboo Cap). We recommend more hand-washing than dishwashing for bottles with a color coating or print, if you want to keep them pristine. The high heat in dishwashers can cause them to fade over time. Whichever method you choose, be sure your Kanteen is washed regularly with warm, soapy water, rinsed and set to dry completely before storing. Can I use a Klean Kanteen for alcohol, acidic beverages or dairy products?

Yes! In fact, our 25oz Classic with Pour-through Cap can hold an entire bottle of wine. Because our Kanteens are constructed of 18/8 food grade stainless steel, there is no issue with alcohol, acidic beverages, such as fruit juice, or dairy products.

Are the food boxes microwave safe?

Yes! Rise Food Boxes are specifically designed to be microwave safe with smooth rounded edges that prevent arcing or sparking. Think of it this way: forks are not microwave safe because electric current can move between the tines whereas the smooth, rounded design of a spoon doesn’t present the opportunity for arcing and sparking. Rise Food boxes are like spoons – microwave safe. And they are actual oven safe, freezer safe, and dishwasher safe as well. For more details see our Food Box FAQ.

Can I put my Klean Kanteen in the freezer?

We strongly advise against putting your Kanteen in the freezer. The force of liquids expanding as they freeze can cause your Klean Kanteen to become deformed and can also break the weld that holds the bottle together. Freezing any Klean Kanteen will void the Strong as Steel™ Guarantee against manufacturer defects.

 Are caps interchangeable?

All of our bottles and cups have more than one cap or lid that is compatible, giving you options! Our interchangeable lids easily transition from morning coffee to hydrating all day to afternoon smoothies or beer on draught. Just make sure to select a compatible cap that matches your bottle neck and thread style - Classic, Wide or TKWide.

Why do Klean Kanteen caps have plastic?

Our goal is to make reusable products appealing for everyday use, so we offer caps made from safe, BPA-free polypropylene (pp#5). These caps are lightweight, smooth and quiet to operate, and meet our high standards for quality, durability, and design.  The Wide Loop and TKWide Loop caps are PP #5 on the outside, but an all-stainless interior, so drink contents never touch the plastic.

We also offer a range of premium, stainless cap options for our Classic line including the Bamboo Cap and our Steel Loop Cap.

Is there plastic touching the contents in the TKCanister?

TkCanisters have a silicone liner on the underside of their lids, so no plastic is touching the contents.

Why aren’t hot beverages recommended with any straw caps?

We caution using hot beverages with our caps with straws, because the steel portion of the straw will become hot to the touch.  Also, it’s trickier to regulate the flow of hot contents through a straw.
