Measuring What Matters
Our old finish was great. But the rough and tumble life of a bottle would sometimes cause finishes to chip. This bothered some folks so much that they replaced or didn’t use their bottles, and that didn’t sit well with us. We know the most significant way Klean Kanteen can reduce environmental impacts is to produce products that last. We went to work to find a finish that could handle the bangs and bumps of the world we live in, while still meeting our requirements for nontoxic materials. It took some time, but it was worth it. What is Green Screen?
GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals (GreenScreen) is a science-based, chemical hazard assessment methodology developed by the nonprofit organization, Clean Production Action, to help businesses and organizations eliminate chemicals of high concern from their products and processes and move toward safer chemistry.
The method produces an assessment score that indicates the level of hazard inherently present in a chemical. Klean adopted GreenScreen in its material qualification process to move beyond regulatory compliance when it comes to product materials safety.
